The ocean is the last frontier— nature has found a way to thrive from the coral reef to the ocean floor and into trenches 10.9km (6.9 miles) deep. The ocean provides every second breath you take. It governs the world’s weather. It may seem far away but we influence what happens there, and this affects all of us. This is amazing, wait till you see the ocean compared to Mt Everest! Bhain sult as Reading - Martin Luther King Jr Follow the link - that will being you to a comprehension text to read about Martin Luther King. You may hear his name mentions a lot in recent times, due to the riots that are taking place in America. Martin Luther King was one of the first activists for human rights, and rights for black people in America. Read more about him here, you might remember back when we doing the role model projects some people chose Rosa Parks, her name also appears in this piece. There are comprehension questions at the bottom of the text that you can pick the answer to, give it a go. Let me know what you think! https://www.myenglishpages.com/site_php_files/reading-martin-luther-king-junior.php Maths - Daily 10 interactive game Everyone loved the maths game yesterday so this is another Top Marks game, set your level 4/5 This gives you 10 questions you need to write your answers and check at the end! You chose what area you need to work on, what tables are you getting mixed up, 7, 8s or division, rounding there are lots of options there and it provides plenty of practice. You can also set the time between questions. Some of you may have played this already as it was on a padlet link I sent previously. Have Fun, Let me know what you think! https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10 Earth School - Clouds Today's Earth link is about how clouds got their names, and the influence this had on the world at the time! Interesting one and not as scientific as the last two! I know lots of you are enjoying these, I liked this one too! https://ed.ted.com/on/rUYtqG6w?theme_id=earth-school#review
Hello Everyone, How was phase 2 for you! Glad to be able to travel within our county! I was , very happy to go home to Portarlington. Today's work is below , could you also write in your diary about Phase 2 and what changes have been introduced. I hope you are all keeping well, and enjoying the weather. Miss Ozenbrook Maths - Interactive game where you can practice your tables and number facts https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button Geography Laois - I love my county! As Phase 2 has been launched and we are allowed to travel within our county let's have a look and see what exactly is there to see and do in this great inland county of ours! Did you go anywhere today? I went to Portarlington (you know the great side of Laois !!!!) but anyway I was thinking what places can we go see, there's Derryounce Lake, Emo Park, Odlums Mill (kept Ireland going during the quarantine ) Slieve bloom mountains . And many more. Please have a look at the laois Passport and plan a trip around Laois where will you start, stop first? How would you calculate your distance travelled? Could you go in a loop? head in one direction and come home another ...how many stops/ sites would you stop at? you could include stops at granny's house or cousins houses! You can use the passport to help you, also use google maps for distance, a calculator to add up distance travelled! This may take you a while so don't be under pressure to get it all completed today. You can complete in your geography notebook/ on a large sheet or in a booklet which ever you like! Have Fun, Earth School - Quest 11 we'll explore the importance of biodiversity (bio, meaning life and diversity, meaning variety). Biodiversity consists of all life forms, their ecosystem, characteristics and how they interact. What makes ecosystems strong or weak in the face of change? There are interesting pieces on the Amazon and the Coral Reef (in Australia) which may be of interest to you as we had looked into them this year. https://ed.ted.com/on/ZdH5qlho?theme_id=earth-school#review Farm Safety From yesterday's video could you design and make a farm safety poster be a slogan. A slogan ; a phrase that rhymes and gets across the warning like the example on the page Remember the danger factor when around a tractor! See what you can come up with! You do not have to use the sheet provided it is an example you can create your own! Enjoy Miss Ozenbrook
