Hello everyone, 

Our last Monday in 4th and 5th Class, little did I think we would be apart this long!!!!! We will be thrilled to see everyone in September ! Well done on getting this far, just a few pieces before holidays tomorrow!!!

End of year Review 
Just a sheet if you would like to fill out on review of the funny strange year we have had! But , think back to when we were in school, what things did you enjoy (besides being with your friends.... that's a given as the best thing!) but what activities did you enjoy? any themes you can think for next year? Last year our room was like a rainforest ... what shall we do for next year? It;s been so long since I've been there I'm sure it's overgrown at this stage!!

How many classes can say they went to Japan on their school tour!!! This site is brilliant and geared towards children but I'll be honest I have spent the past 2 hours ... looking at the school lunch boxes (they're crazy!) Squishy toys.. that are a big craze in Japan at the mo! and also looking at the cherry blossoms! There is absolutely loads on this site, dance, sport, places to visit have a look and see what you think!

Fifth Class - Maths End of Year
Well done everyone on a great years work in Maths. When we are back in September we have a few bits to finish up from 5th - Chance, square/ triangular numbers/ the circle so can you ignore q163,164 as I want to wait till we are all back together to do that thanks. You have all worked so hard this year in maths and it will stand to you in 6th as there is very little new content in 6th! 5th is the hardest class for maths! Earth School- The Ocean

Great feedback and uptake on the interactive Maths games so today give some of these a go! I think there's some there for everyone, darts counting the score, matching spacial awareness, what phrase (like dingabats in quizzes ) missing links... riddles LOADS! Artemis Fowl- Eoin Colfer
Artemis Fowl is being launched on Disney Plus this weekend. The movie is based on the novel, Artemis Fowl written by Eoin Colfer. He has been interviewed on the radio a lot this week, read about his life and answer these questions . Questions are also at the end of the text. Please answer in your copy. Questions 1. Reading - Martin Luther King Jr
Follow the link - that will being you to a comprehension text to read about Martin Luther King. You may hear his name mentions a lot in recent times, due to the riots that are taking place in America. Martin Luther King was one of the first activists for human rights, and rights for black people in America. Read more about him here, you might remember back when we doing the role model projects some people chose Rosa Parks, her name also appears in this piece. Everyone loved the maths game yesterday so this is another Top Marks game, set your level 4/5 This gives you 10 questions you need to write your answers and check at the end! You chose what area you need to work on, what tables are you getting mixed up, 7, 8s or division, rounding there are lots of options there and it provides plenty of practice. Geography Laois - I love my county!
As Phase 2 has been launched and we are allowed to travel within our county let's have a look and see what exactly is there to see and do in this great inland county of ours! Did you go anywhere today? I went to Portarlington (you know the great side of Laois !!!!) but anyway I was thinking what places can we go see, there's Derryounce Lake, Emo Park, Odlums Mill (kept Ireland going during the quarantine ) Slieve bloom mountains . And many more.

Please have a look at the laois Passport and plan a trip around Laois where will you start, stop first? How would you calculate your distance travelled? Could you go in a loop? head in one direction and come home another ...how many stops/ sites would you stop at? you could include stops at granny's house or cousins houses!

You can use the passport to help you, also use google maps for distance, a calculator to add up distance travelled! This may take you a while so don't be under pressure to get it all completed today. You can complete in your geography notebook/ on a large sheet or in a booklet which ever you like! Have Fun,



Earth School - Quest 11
we'll explore the importance of biodiversity (bio, meaning life and diversity, meaning variety). Biodiversity consists of all life forms, their ecosystem, characteristics and how they interact. What makes ecosystems strong or weak in the face of change?

There are interesting pieces on the Amazon and the Coral Reef (in Australia) which may be of interest to you as we had looked into them this year.
