We have been busy having great fun in third class! We are really enjoying the Fundamental Movement Skills with Laois Sports Partnership. Our school visit from the Reptile Zoo was super! We learned lots of interesting information, and we had the opportunity to get close to some friendly reptiles!! We hope you enjoy the short video below..

We have been very busy learning lots and catching up with our friends since we returned on March 15th!! We completed an art activity using shaving foam. We also managed to fit in a lovely walk to the local duck pond, enjoying the local sites along the way. Wishing you all a lovely, safe Easter break!

We enjoyed some more festive baking, see also our stain glass windows and the Christmas cards we made for people in the locality. We were very busy recording Silent Night , you will see some pictures of us in the ‘recording studio’. We also enjoyed a special visit to the local church and crib. Finally you might catch a glimpse in the video of a special visitor who walked around the school grounds today!! We have been getting in the Christmas mood! We made Christmas cards for a third class in Co. Waterford and we were super excited to open the cards they sent us in return!! We also enjoyed some delicious festive treats that we baked and decorated during the week. We have been very active in recent weeks!! It has been a busy few weeks learning some very interesting information about the mountains of Ireland, Galway, the Vikings, bia, fractions, multiplication tables, light, homophones, touches and good and bad secrets in our Stay Safe. We are enjoying practising our song Silent Night/ Oíche Chiúin / Stille Nacht. We can't wait for you all to hear our rendition. We made beautiful Christmas cards that we are going to exchange with pupils in third class from a school in Waterford. Today we really enjoyed participating in Flashlight Friday. It was great fun and we helped raise much needed funds for Pieta House. We have been working very hard since we returned from our midterm break. We have been learning about some very interesting people including Edward Jenner, Christopher Columbus & Helen Keller. We have finished learning the rivers of Ireland and have begun to learn some of the main mountains of Ireland. In science we completed some very interesting experiments based on heat. In maths we have started to learn about multiplication and are learning our multiplication tables. November is the month we remember all who have passed away, therefore we are making a special effort to remember loved ones in our daily prayers. We have had an extremely busy few weeks learning about The Water Cycle, The Normans, The Lifecycle of a Salmon, Oíche Shamhna, Halloween and we were discussing bullying during our Stay Safe programme. The children have been fantastic following all safety procedures - sanitising and social distancing, keeping their pods and our class bubble safe! Well done everyone!! We have had another busy week here in rang a trí. The children really enjoyed learning a funny poem called 'Michael Built a Bicycle'. They might be sharing some interesting facts at home about plants, The Space Age, Neil Armstrong and the River Shannon. The children were very creative when designing their Christmas cards. They can't wait for you to see their masterpieces when they are printed!! We even managed to do some orienteering while the weather was dry! |
