1st of May has arrived which also means it's the first day of summer. Well done to you all on another week of fantastic work. It's crazy to think it has been 7 full weeks since we have been in school!

Active week has been terrific and we continue today with 'Fun Filled Friday'. Your task is to come up with a circuit/obstacle course/game that you or your family will enjoy. Don't forget that Active Week continues over the weekend as well so make sure you fill in your activity charts on Saturday and Sunday. Keep an eye on the website/ twitter for the weekend activities. Have fun!

Hello again!

Well done on the work completed yesterday. Some people have made a great start to Active Home Week and have all their exercise and activities planned out. Remember what ever activity you do fill it in on the chart from yesterday and send it in at the end of the week/start of next week. All your activity is important to help us keep our Active Flag! 

PE:
As part of our Active Week, Ms Lyons has given us a great idea! She is calling today 'Tell me about it Tuesday!' Whatever sport or activity that you enjoy doing or watching, write a few sentences, draw a picture or make a recording! Don't forget to upload it on Seesaw or if you are not using Seesaw you can e-mail me or just keep it with your work and I'll see it when we get back to school.

1. Fill in the correct word in the sentence
2. Sort the 3D shapes into the correct group.

English:
Reading - Trains - Read through and gather information
Writing - Ask some to pick out 5 to 8 of the red words from the story for you to put in sentences.

SPHE: 
Cycling safety - It's important to remember how to be safe while out cycling. A lot of you are probably out cycling more given the weather. Fill in the worksheet and see how you can cycle safely.

Feel free to continue learning and practising you cursive writing in Ready, Steady, Write! and working on Nessy (games to help with reading and spelling) If you haven't used it or have forgotten how to log in follow these simple steps: 1. Go to www.nessy.com 2. Log in using the secret word “wonkyteacher” 3. Enter child’s name 4. Enter child’s name again for ‘Nessy name’ 5. Click Nessy Reading and Spelling on the top left corner of the screen and off you go! I'll be able to track your progress

Hello Everyone.

I hope you all enjoyed the weekend. Well done to everyone on the work you have been doing over the last number of weeks. It's challenging times for everyone but as long as why try our best, that's what really matters. I want to emphasis to parents what a great job you are doing also but please do not put yourself under pressure to get all the work that is assign complete. Just do what best suits your family situation at this time.

P.E. - 
This week would have been 'Active Schools Week' so instead we are going to try 'Active Home Week'. The idea is to be as active as we can and do at least 60 minutes of exercise a day. To make this easier and more manageable you can break it down into 4 slots of 15 minutes. I have a chart attached at the bottom for you to fill in during the week. There are loads of great resources available online (Joe Wicks, TJ Reid, youtube, GoNoodle) and of course you can go walking, running, cycling, jumping on a trampoline, play hurling, football, rugby, soccer, tennis..... all great ideas to be active and I'm sure you can think of more yourself.

Maths:
Master Your Maths Monday 
3D & 2D Shapes: Busy at Maths pg 115 (If you collected your books on Friday, you can do it in there. You can take a picture of it and upload it as a response on Seesaw)
1. Name and colour the shapes the correct colour
2. Give examples of the 3D shapes shown
3. Name the 2D faces that make the 3D shape
4. Figure out which shape is the odd one out. Why?

English:
Read at Home (one page - This week there is no need to write the answers as long as you are being active for Active Home Week)
Buliding Words: 
A: use the clues to figure out the word. The word in (a) will be the start of word (b)
C: match up to make a word.
D: use a word you built to fill in the spaces in the sentences.

Science:
Water Experiments. Discuss the picture on the first page and see do you agree of disagree with what the children have said. Read through the information and try out the experiments for yourself. Use the investigation record sheet for the first experiment and the prediction worksheet for testing what you think will/won't float. Today the 24th April DEAR Ireland are asking at 12 noon for everyone to Drop Everything And Read. Post your pictures to Seesaw.

Art:
Construction - Build a Reading Fort. Find a spot either inside or outside and create a space for reading in. You can also draw, play games or just enjoy playing in your fort. You did a fantastic job of this when we did Flashlight Friday in school so I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Irish:
Bia - Read the words that go with the pictures in A. Put the correct word with each item in the ciseán in B. Put in either 'Is maith liom', 'Ní maith liom' or 'Is brea liom' and answer truthfully in C. (attached below and on Seesaw)

Science:
Experiment on heat. Discuss the picture on the first page and see do you agree of disagree with what the children have said. Organise the experiment as on page 2. Record what happens and fill up the investigation record sheet. Only carry out experiment under supervision from parent/guardian. (attached below and on Seesaw)

Excellent work done again yesterday. Well done to Callum for finding the most things in the sitting room starting with 'C' including finding himself!

How Have Schools Changed over Time - there is a powerpoint attached below that shows what schools were like many many years ago. Make sure to ask a parent/grandparent/childminder what it was like for them in school. There is a worksheet to fill in with it(also attached below and on Seesaw).

Hi Everybody!

Hope you all took time to enjoy the wonderful weather yesterday. I've had lots of great work sent to me. You're all doing a fantastic job in these tricky circumstances. Congratulation to Gráinne who found the most things in the kitchen starting with the letter 'B', well done. Lots of fantastic thing were found. It's great to see so many getting the hang of Seesaw so quickly.

Today's is as follows:

Maths:

Read at Home (one page & write the answers to the questions in check-up)
Language task - set a timer for 10 minutes. Today go to your sitting room and make a list of everything you can find that starts with the letter 'C'. Irish words will also be accepted but everything must be found in your sitting room.

SPHE:
Changing negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Scenarios given of negative thoughts someone might have. You must change their view to a positive one, for example, I can't go outside because it's raining ----> This rain will help the grass and flowers in the garden grow. At the bottom you have to write your own negative thought and give a positive view on it. It might be a little tricky so they can be real or made up as long as it makes sense - attached below and on Seesaw

 Welcome back everyone!

I hope you have all had a nice break over the last two weeks and hopefully you are not too full from all the Easter Eggs. It looks like we are going to be learning from home for a bit longer than expected and I hope everyone is keeping well and in good spirits. I too am finding it difficult having to stay home but hopefully we are close to the end.

In the meantime we have some work to do!
